PIAZZA INTERIORE - Perceptual Landscape
Today marks the inauguration of "Piazza Interiore", the installation curated by GamFratesi for this year's ALPI presentation at 3daysofdesign.
Originating in the contemplation of metaphysical painting and the ability of wood to generate wonder through visual clarity and proportion, the installation is hosted at Narrow Creative as a sequence of rooms with a Mediterranean feel. Enigmatic architectural forms, apertures and silent perspectives give life to an itinerary that invites the visitor to slow down and be led inward.
The display is structured as a succession of contemplative settings each of which introduces a different relation between light, material and architectural form. Rather than complete rooms, the different chapters are configured as changing conditions paced by passages between outward openness and inner focus, distance and vicinity, presence and dissolution. Each threshold marks a variation of rhythm, accompanying the spectator in a subtle experience of perception and memory.
In these surroundings, ALPI wood makes the architectural compositions, not only by cladding them but by defining depth, optical connections and perspectival lines, turning the installation into a continuously evolving interior landscape.
As the fruit of a long-standing collaboration with GamFratesi, "Piazza Interiore" is the latest installment of the ALPI design dialogue, rooted in research into wood's sensorial, expressive and functional possibilities.
